Vicon previews integration with INEX/Zamir ALPR at ISC West, Booth 16055
Hauppauge, NY -- February 25, 2009 – Vicon Industries Inc., a leading designer and producer of video surveillance systems, announced today that it is partnering with INEX/Zamir, a major provider of license plate reader equipment, to integrate the company’s ALPR technology within its ViconNet digital video management solution. This will allow users of ViconNet to capture license plate information and automatically link the data to corresponding surveillance video and events logged by the ViconNet system. A preview of this integration will be on display at ISC West 2009, Vicon Booth 16055.
Communication between the ALPR equipment and the ViconNet system will occur over the network using TCP/IP protocol. Technology developed by INEX/Zamir allows special cameras on the network to read license plates, convert the information to digital data, and then transmit the data to the ViconNet system. Corresponding ViconNet cameras, positioned to view the vehicles from which the license plate data was captured, are then able to provide additional video of the vehicle from a broader surveillance perspective. The video and license plate data are automatically linked within ViconNet, and event reports display thumbnail images of the corresponding license plates when recorded video is later called up for viewing. In addition, the ability of users to generate “white lists” and “black lists” of plate numbers allows the system to automate certain events and procedures based upon a vehicle’s status.
Guy Arazi, Vicon’s Digital Products Manager, explains that “Vicon continues to pursue ways to expand the functionality and performance of our security systems by taking advantage of partnerships and integration opportunities. This new venture, with INEX/Zamir, will add a whole new category of capabilities to our ViconNet system and we are pleased to be working with a company that has such a fine reputation for quality products and technological innovation.”
